What spirits might remain in Washington's oldest operating lodging, the haunted Shelburne Hotel?
For over a century, the Shelburne Hotel has stood as a historic gem in Seaview, Washington. As the longest continuously operating hotel in the state, it has witnessed countless stories—from its beginnings in 1896 as a luxurious retreat for wealthy travelers to the dramatic moment it was physically moved across the street by horse-drawn power. Over the years, the Shelburne has changed hands, expanded, and been lovingly preserved, but some believe its past residents never truly left.
Ghostly encounters have become just as much a part of the hotel’s legacy as its rich history. Guests and staff report eerie happenings, from disembodied footsteps echoing through the hallways to the unsettling presence of The Man Upstairs—a spirit believed to be the original owner, Charles Beaver. Rooms 2, 5, 6, 8, and 16 each carry their own spectral legends, including Nina, a mischievous ghost known to wake guests, and Annie May, a benevolent spirit said to bless couples married beneath her favorite tree. Meanwhile, Georgina’s friendly apparition lingers on the stairs, while a grumpy former worker makes his presence known near the maintenance closet.
From phantom massages to locked doors that defy explanation, the Shelburne’s hauntings are as diverse as they are chilling. Is this historic hotel merely preserving its past, or do some souls refuse to check out?

Hauntings of the historic Hannah House
The haunted Hannah House in Indianapolis holds tales of eerie apparitions, chilling smells, and dark secrets. Built in 1858 by Alexander Hannah, this grand mansion was once a bustling household and is now one of the most infamous haunted places in Indiana. Its ghostly history centers on Alexander, whose apparition is often seen in a full suit, wandering the halls of his former home. His wife, Elizabeth, is also believed to haunt the mansion, often seen from the outside, gazing sadly through the windows while cradling an unseen child.
Visitors and paranormal investigators have reported a strong, decaying odor that quickly turns floral, thought to be linked to a tragic fire from the 1860s. According to legend, enslaved individuals, hiding within the house as part of the Underground Railroad, perished in an accidental fire. The basement, where these souls are rumored to have hidden, is particularly active; visitors sense shadowy figures, cold spots, and disembodied voices echoing throughout the halls.
Over the years, Hannah House has become a must-visit for anyone intrigued by haunted houses in Indianapolis. Whether drawn by Indianapolis haunted places or curious about a real haunted mansion, thrill-seekers can even book an overnight stay to experience its paranormal mysteries firsthand.

Explore The Infamous Driskill Hotel
Join us as we check in to the historic and haunted Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas! Opened in 1886 by cattleman Colonel Jesse Driskill, this opulent hotel has been the setting for high society gatherings, political rendezvous, and an eerie collection of ghostly stories. The Driskill's history is rich with tales of grandeur, tragedy, and scandal, and it's no surprise that spirits still linger in the lavish halls.
Guests and staff have reported seeing Colonel Driskill himself, his presence marked by the strong smell of cigar smoke. There's also the heartbroken bride who allegedly took her own life after a massive shopping spree, who has been seen wandering the hotel with bags in hand. The spirits of President Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife, Lady Bird, who were frequent guests, have also been seen strolling through the halls, but one of the most unsettling hauntings may be tied to “Love Letter,” a painting of a young girl that some say changes expressions, follows onlookers with her gaze, and leaves viewers feeling uneasy or even ill. Brodhead Manor - Do Ghosts Lurk In This Former Wisconsin School | Haunted Atlas
Thursday Oct 31, 2024
Thursday Oct 31, 2024
Join our team as we venture into the eerie halls of Brodhead Manor in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Originally built in 1907, this historic building has seen generations of students pass through its doors. After serving as a school until 1996, it stood abandoned for over 20 years, until it was reimagined as a haunted attraction in 2018. But Brodhead Manor is more than just a commercial haunt; it’s a hotspot for real paranormal activity.
In this episode we explore the ghostly residents that still call Brodhead Manor home. In the gym, a playful spirit named Elizabeth rolls a ball across the floor, but she's far from the only ghost here. On the second floor, the heavy footsteps of former Director of Education Carl Pfisterer echo through the corridors, perhaps a reminder of his strict presence during the school’s early years. We’ll also delve into the band room, where tennis balls mysteriously roll across the floor, and strange EMF readings have puzzled investigators. On the third floor, a mischievous spirit whispers in visitors' ears when they least expect it, creating unnerving moments for anyone who dares to explore alone. And in the basement, the janitor's old workshop is said to be a hub of negative energy, with reports of people being pushed by an unseen force.
Whether you're here for the frights or the history, Brodhead Manor offers a haunting experience like no other. Could you brave a night in one of its haunted rooms? Listen in to learn more about the spirits that linger within this once bustling schoolhouse turned paranormal hotspot!
